Join curators Gillian Kirkbride and Dr Rachel Wilkinson for a thought-provoking conversation with the objects of the DLI exhibition. Through stories of people, memory, remembrance and memorial making, this interactive talk explores the lives behind the collection, revealing experiences beyond soldiering and uncovering the cultural significance of objects preserved for future generations.
Together, we will consider not only what these objects can tell us about the past, but also how collections are created, interpreted and remembered. Exploring themes of identity, storytelling and historical bias, we will reflect on whose stories survive, whose voices are missing, and how museums shape our understanding of history.
